If you want an example from popular media that exemplifies just how important everyday carry gear might be, you can’t go wrong with ’80s action blockbuster Die Hard. And that’s because, in the context of the film, John McClane (Bruce Willis) is left to defend Nakatomi Plaza from German terrorists with nothing but the items he has in his pockets. If you’ve seen the flick, you know he makes do with what little he has, but we’d like to think that, we’re he a little more prepared, he might have a loadout that looks something like the everyday carry gear in this week’s pocket dump. Granted, the chances are slim that you’ll ever need to use your EDC arsenal to fend off violent international criminals. But you’ll be more apt to deal with just about any situation, even the extreme ones, as long as you keep your pocketable gear on you at all times.
